Portable

Portable equipment on castors or with carry handles — spot cooling, temporary heating, site ventilation. Chosen when the load moves or the installation is temporary.

The trade-off is always cooling or heating capacity against how far the unit has to be moved. Single-hose portable air conditioners pull room air across the condenser and exhaust it outside, which draws replacement air in through every gap in the room — real capacity in use often lands well below the rating. Dual-hose designs avoid that at the cost of size and price. For spot cooling of machinery rather than people, check the discharge temperature rather than the BTU figure.
