Ice Machines

Ice machines are specified by ice form before capacity, because the form determines the application. Flake ice cools fish and produce with maximum surface contact. Tube and cube ice go into drinks and food service. Block ice stores and transports well without refrigeration. A plant built for one form cannot produce another.

Specifying an Ice Plant

Daily output is quoted at a reference water and ambient temperature — usually 21C water and 21C ambient. Real output in a tropical location with 30C supply water can be 30 to 40 percent lower, so always confirm the rating at your actual conditions. Decide whether you need integrated storage and how ice will be moved; handling is often the part that gets forgotten and ends up costing more than the machine.
