Other Home Heaters

Wood burning stoves and convector heaters remain the practical answer wherever mains gas does not reach and electricity is expensive. Wood and pellet stoves burn a fuel that is often free or locally cheap; convectors offer clean, controllable electric heat where a flue is impossible.

Solid Fuel Buying Points

Hopper capacity is the specification that decides whether a pellet or coal stove burns overnight without a refill — it matters more day to day than nominal output. Efficiency and emissions certification is now the gate for European sale: Ecodesign compliance is mandatory, and non-compliant stoves simply cannot be placed on the market. For convectors, look for a thermostat with genuine hysteresis control rather than a simple on-off bimetal strip.
