Specifying Process Cooling

For a water chiller, the numbers that matter are cooling capacity at your actual leaving-water temperature and the ambient it must achieve that in — capacity quoted at 7C leaving and 32C ambient will not hold at 2C and 43C. Glycol is required below about 4C and changes both the pump duty and the heat transfer, so specify the concentration up front. For transport refrigeration, electric standby is what keeps product cold when the engine is off.
