Carbon Steel

Housings and impellers pressed from carbon steel, usually Q235 or Q345 in Chinese production. It is the default for industrial fan casings because it is cheap, weldable and stiff enough for large impellers. The trade-off is corrosion: bare carbon steel needs paint, powder coat or galvanising to survive humid, coastal or chemically loaded air. If the airstream carries moisture or mild acids, compare against stainless or FRP before ordering on price alone.
