What “inverter” means

Unlike a conventional AC that repeatedly switches the compressor fully ON and fully OFF, a GREE inverter uses a variable-speed compressor. It can increase or decrease compressor speed according to the cooling/heating demand. This helps maintain a steadier room temperature, reduces unnecessary power consumption, and can make operation quieter.

• Energy efficiency: GREE inverter systems adjust output to match the actual load rather than constantly operating at maximum capacity. Depending on the model, efficiency can be very high; for example, GREE's Sapphire line reaches up to 27 SEER2.
• Fast cooling: Turbo mode can increase airflow to reach the selected temperature more quickly.
• Stable temperature: Once the desired temperature is reached, the inverter can reduce compressor speed instead of simply shutting off, providing more consistent comfort.
• Quiet operation: Variable-speed operation and optimized fans allow many GREE models to operate at relatively low noise levels.
• Heating and cooling: Many GREE inverter units are heat pumps, allowing the same system to provide both air conditioning and heating. Some models are designed to operate in very cold conditions.

How it works

A typical GREE split inverter system has:

Indoor unit → refrigerant pipes → outdoor inverter compressor/condenser

The indoor unit absorbs heat from the room and sends that heat through the refrigerant to the outdoor unit. The outdoor unit releases the heat outside. The inverter compressor continuously adjusts its speed according to the required capacity.

For example, if you set the room to 72°F (22°C):

1. The AC initially operates at higher capacity to cool the room.
2. As the room approaches 72°F, the compressor slows down.
3. Instead of repeatedly turning completely off and on, it maintains the temperature with lower output.
4. When more cooling is required, compressor speed increases again.

This is one of the main reasons inverter systems can provide both better temperature stability and lower energy consumption than conventional fixed-speed systems.
