Mold Cooling and Setting: Inside the molding machine, EPS pre-expanded beads are heated by steam within the mold cavity, causing them to expand and fuse into the desired shape. Subsequently, cooling water must be circulated through the mold to rapidly cool it down. This process solidifies the foam product and allows for demolding. The cooling tower is responsible for efficiently reducing the temperature of the high-temperature cooling water that has absorbed immense heat from the mold, restoring its cooling capacity before it is recirculated back to the molding machines.
By providing efficient and reliable cooling, the cooling tower directly ensures the continuous operational efficiency of the EPS production line, the quality of the molded products (e.g., reducing warpage), and controls overall energy consumption costs.
The working principle of the round counter-flow cooling tower is as follows: Hot water is pumped through pipes at a certain pressure to the water distribution system inside the cooling tower. Through small openings in the water distribution pipes, the water is evenly distributed over the packing. Dry, low-enthalpy air is drawn into the tower from the bottom air inlet by the fan.As the hot water flows over the surface of the packing, it forms a thin film and exchanges heat with the air. The resulting high-humidity, high-enthalpy hot air is then extracted from the top, thereby reducing the water temperature.
