A laundry that cannot get rid of its moisture pushes it into the rest of the building. Humid air migrates along corridors and into service risers, condenses on cool surfaces, and produces damp and mould complaints in areas nobody connects to the laundry. Meanwhile lint accumulating in dryer ductwork is a well-documented fire risk, and a hot lint-laden duct is exactly the environment where a fire spreads unseen.

Design the lint path for cleaning access at every bend, and treat that cleaning as a fire safety task with a schedule. Questions buyers ask

Can several dryers share one extract duct?
It is best avoided. Shared ducts create back-pressure when multiple machines run, which lengthens drying cycles, increases energy use per load, and pushes moist lint-laden air back into the room. Individual ducts to atmosphere are the reliable arrangement, and they also make lint cleaning tractable.
Why does the laundry cause damp problems elsewhere in the hotel?
Because moisture it fails to extract does not stay put. Humid air migrates along corridors and up service risers, then condenses on cooler surfaces well away from the laundry — which is why the damp complaint often comes from a floor nobody associates with the source. Adequate extract plus matched make-up air keeps the moisture where it can be removed.
How serious is lint in dryer ductwork?
Serious enough to be treated as a scheduled fire safety task rather than housekeeping. Lint is combustible, it accumulates in a hot duct, and a fire in concealed ductwork spreads before anyone sees it. Design access at every bend so cleaning is actually possible, and record it.
