Air Coolers

Evaporative air coolers cool by turning water into vapour, which uses a fraction of the electricity a compressor system needs for the same felt effect. That makes them the default for workshops, warehouses, greenhouses and livestock housing in dry and moderately humid climates — anywhere a full air conditioning system would be unaffordable to run at that volume.

Where Evaporative Cooling Works

The drier the incoming air, the more temperature drop you get — which is why these units dominate the Middle East, India and inland China and disappoint in the tropics. Airflow should be sized for air changes across the whole space, not spot cooling. Cooling pad quality is the part that decides service life: 105g kraft paper holds its shape when saturated where lighter stock collapses. Ducted split units keep the added humidity outside the working area.
