Probe installation
The probe generates ultrasonic pulse wave and detection echo at the same time, and the ultrasonic pulse wave propagates from the surface of the probe in a certain conical wave surface. In this area, there should be no obstruction and away from the feed port. The installation position of the probe should be selected in a position where there is no obstacle between the transmitting surface of the probe and the measured medium.
The probe can be installed with a flange or a standard G1-1/2 thread (the installation interface is subject to the actual object).Whether flange mounted or threaded, or with or without an optional cone, ensure that the bottom of the probe protrude from the bottom of the process interface.
The probe shall be installed to avoid its emitted sound wave channel remaining within the ideal area shown on the diagram with the container wall. The range shown on the diagram is the area from which the probe is installed to the container wall. If the installation distance is less than the distance specified by the line of the ideal area, the probe should be installed within the "minimum spacing" area. If the mounting distance from the side wall is still below the "minimum spacing" line, the transmitter may not measure the level correctly.
In solid material measurement, the probe should be typically installed at a distance of 1/3 of the side wall from the container wall to the center inlet. A cone will form as the material accumulates. The probe installation position will give a reading of the average level, which is the level height when the material is stacked flat. This is true for tapered deposits or concave deposits that appear during discharge. The average level height measured by this installation is correct only for cylindrical containers where the feed port is at the center line of the container. For containers of other shapes or where the feed port is not in the middle position, the probe shall be installed in accordance with the user's requirements and shall comply with the foregoing requirements.
For liquids with a calm, waveless surface, ultrasonic measurements will yield the best results. If there is debris, bubbles or large fluctuations on the liquid surface, a waveguide should be installed. The waveguide should be larger than 120MM in diameter and have no connector.
