The probe shall be installed to avoid its emitted sound wave channel remaining within the ideal area shown on the diagram with the container wall. The range shown on the diagram is the area from which the probe is installed to the container wall. If the installation distance is less than the distance specified by the line of the ideal area, the probe should be installed within the "minimum spacing" area. If the mounting distance from the side wall is still below the "minimum spacing" line, the transmitter may not measure the level correctly.

In solid material measurement, the probe should be typically installed at a distance of 1/3 of the side wall from the container wall to the center inlet. A cone will form as the material accumulates. The probe installation position will give a reading of the average level, which is the level height when the material is stacked flat. This is true for tapered deposits or concave deposits that appear during discharge. The average level height measured by this installation is correct only for cylindrical containers where the feed port is at the center line of the container. For containers of other shapes or where the feed port is not in the middle position, the probe shall be installed in accordance with the user's requirements and shall comply with the foregoing requirements.
