Open Cooling tower
The open cooling tower is a device that utilizes the contact between water and air to dissipate the waste heat generated in industries or in air conditioning systems. The basic principle is as follows: Dry (low enthalpy) air is drawn by the fan and enters the cooling tower through the intake network; the high-temperature water molecules with high saturation steam pressure flow towards the lower-pressure air, and the wet and hot (high enthalpy) water enters the tower through the water distribution system. When water droplets come into contact with the air, on the one hand, due to the direct heat transfer between the air and the water, and on the other hand, due to the pressure difference between the water vapor surface and the air, a vaporization phenomenon occurs under the pressure effect. That is, through the heat transfer with the unsaturated dry air, the sensible heat of the water is carried away, and part of the water evaporates to carry away the latent heat in the water, thus achieving the purpose of cooling the cooling water.
Closed Cooling Tower
The closed cooling tower utilizes the contact between water and the coil to transfer heat through the coil wall, thereby removing the heat of the working medium inside the coil to achieve cooling. The circulating water in the closed cooling tower only circulates within the cooling tower and exchanges heat with the air for cooling before contacting the coil to remove the heat of the working medium. The make-up water replenishes the water supply appropriately. Compared to the open cooling tower, the most obvious feature of the closed cooling tower is the addition of the coil. The liquid working medium to be cooled flows inside the steel coil without direct contact with water, and the heat is transferred through the coil wall.
Application
The waste heat generated during industrial production or refrigeration processes is generally removed by using cooling water. The function of a cooling tower is to conduct the cooling water carrying the waste heat through heat exchange with air inside the tower, transferring the waste heat to the air and discharging it into the atmosphere. For example: In a thermal power plant, the boiler heats water to high-temperature and high-pressure steam, which drives the turbine to do work and generate electricity. The waste steam after the turbine's work is discharged into the condenser, where it undergoes heat exchange with the cooling water and condenses into water. This water is then pumped back to the boiler for recycling. During this process, the waste heat from the exhaust steam is transferred to the cooling water, causing the water temperature to rise. The cooling water carrying the waste heat then transfers its heat to the air in the cooling tower and is discharged into the atmosphere through the fan duct. Application scope of cooling towers: Mainly applied in air conditioning cooling systems, refrigeration series, injection molding, leather processing, foaming, power generation, turbine, aluminum profile processing, air compressors, industrial water cooling, etc. The most widely used applications are air conditioning cooling, refrigeration, and the plastic and chemical industries.
