1.Core Function: Provide the longitudinal airflow required during tunnel operation (normal ventilation, blocking conditions, smoke exhaust in fire accidents), dilute pollutants (such as vehicle exhaust, dust), exhaust smoke, control wind speed, and ensure air quality and traffic safety in the tunnel.
2.Working Principle: The fan inhales air from one end, accelerates it through the impeller, and then jets it out from the other end at a very high speed (usually above 30-40 m/s). This high-speed jet will strongly suck and drive the surrounding static or low-speed air to move forward together, thus forming a strong one-way induced airflow in the tunnel.
3.Installation: usually in groups (more than one) along the tunnel top or side wall hanging installation. By controlling the
starting and stopping and turning of the fans at different positions, the two-way control of airflow in the tunnel can be realised.
4.Application Scenario: Mainly used for one-way or two-way traffic tunnel ventilation, as the core power source of the
longitudinal ventilation system. It is especially suitable for tunnels with a length of about 1-3 kilometres, where large
ventilation shafts are not suitable.
1. High induction ratio: the core feature. A single fan can induce air flow in the tunnel equivalent to several times its air
volume (usually 3-8 times or more), with high efficiency and a relatively small number of fans required.
2. Large air volume and high air pressure: the ability to provide large air volumes and medium to high pressure heads (to
overcome tunnel resistance along the tunnel) to meet the requirements of tunnel ventilation in a relatively compact size.
3. Reversible operation: The vast majority of SDS fans are designed for forward and reverse operation. By changing the direction of motor rotation, the direction of airflow can be changed, allowing flexible control of the airflow in the tunnel (e.g. to cope with two-way traffic or to control the direction of smoke evacuation in case of fire).
4. High efficiency and energy saving: Adopting the aerodynamic design of high efficiency backward tilting or wing-type blade,together with the high efficiency motor, the operation efficiency is high in the common working conditions. The induced draught feature itself reduces the energy consumption required to directly push all the air.
5. Low noise: Through optimising the impeller aerodynamic design (e.g. swept blade, unequal pitch blade), setting muffler (built-in or external), adopting sound insulation shell and other measures, the operating noise is effectively controlled to meet the environmental protection requirements.
6. High reliability: specially designed for the harsh environment of the tunnel (high temperature, high humidity, corrosive
gases, dust, vibration), the key components (motors, bearings) have high protection level, long service life, and low maintenance requirements.
7. Explosion-proof options: For environments where flammable gases may be present (e.g. natural gas pipeline tunnels, coal mine tunnels), special designs that comply with explosion-proof standards (e.g. Ex d IIC T4 Gb) are available.
8. Compact structure: Compact structural design and relatively light weight, easy to install and hang in the limited space of the tunnel.
