Chilling Equipment

Chilling equipment removes heat from a liquid loop that then cools a process, a building or a product. Capacity, leaving fluid temperature and design ambient are the three numbers that define a chiller, and quoting only the first is the commonest source of undersized installations.

Air Cooled or Water Cooled, Scroll or Screw

Air cooled chillers need no tower and no water treatment but lose capacity as ambient rises. Water cooled holds capacity and can sit indoors, at the cost of a cooling tower. On compressors, scroll suits smaller capacities and stages well in multiples; screw unloads smoothly and tolerates continuous full load, which is why it dominates above roughly 100kW.
